This day is designed to take in several major sites without the stress of parking or navigation. From Avignon, the route crosses the Alpilles, down to Arles, and finally to the Pont du Gard, at a comfortable and realistic pace.








The morning heads into the Alpilles mountains. In Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, the old town and the places that left a mark on Van Gogh unfold along the way. Next, the road climbs up to Les Baux-de-Provence, a spectacular perched village with sweeping panoramic views.
After lunch, the day continues in Arles. The historic center links the imposing Roman landmarks with the spots that inspired Van Gogh's paintings. To end the day on a high note, the final stop is the Pont du Gard, where the sheer size and natural setting of this incredible Roman aqueduct come into full view.

Pick-up is at your hotel, Airbnb, or the Avignon train station. A quick overview of the day's plan comes before heading toward the Alpilles.

The visit starts with a walk through the historic center of Saint-Rémy, taking in its charming streets and Van Gogh’s time here. A stop near the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum can be added along the way.

Next stop is Les Baux-de-Provence. There's time to wander through this ancient village carved into the rock and take in the sweeping views over the valley.

Lunch is not included. Restaurant recommendations can be provided in advance based on what you feel like, such as local, bistro or quick options, and your constraints, including vegetarian preferences, allergies and more. The place and timing can be adjusted as the day unfolds.

In Arles, the old town connects the Roman amphitheater with the locations Van Gogh painted. The visit can stay an outdoor walking tour, or include an interior visit to a monument, depending on preference.

The day finishes at the Pont du Gard. There's plenty of time to admire this massive Roman aqueduct and walk along the river before heading back.

The drive back goes straight to the drop-off point in Avignon, wrapping up the day smoothly without any logistical hassles.

Pick-up wherever you choose, whether that is your hotel, station, cruise port, airport or rental villa, with return to the same place at the end of the day.
